Luxury Beach Cottages in Kerala, India
A luxury homestay villa in a Kerala: Motty’s traditional heritage home is in the heart of the backwaters just south of Cochin
Arriving at Motty’s is like discovering the home of a long-lost uncle in the heart of the Kerala backwaters. Motty and Lali invite you to enjoy the culture, cuisine and landscapes of Kerala from the comfort of their traditional heritage home in Alleppey, or from the luxury of one of their fully-catered beach cottages.
Located in the tranquil backwaters, the stunning scenery and historical ambience make a stay at Motty’s a unique, relaxing experience. There are beautiful verandas and the house is adorned with art collected from all over India. The two large, stylish bedrooms (one with a four-poster bed) are very private, each with its own entrance. The cuisine of Kerala is one of the highlights. Dig into traditional rice breads, spicy curries, fresh fish fry, pickles and baked bananas. Lali will show you the art of Keralan cuisine and is currently compiling a book of recipes that you can take home.
Set apart from the homestay, Motty’s luxury cottages lie on the edge of the palm-shrouded Marari beach – golden sands littered with traditional fishing boats. Relax in your private sanctuary and enjoy personal service, exquisite local cuisine (served to your cottage), a unique open-air bathroom and a decked veranda where you can relax to the sound of the waves or watch the sunset. Perfect for honeymoons, families, groups, painters and writers, the cottages are made for two, but can easily cater for families/groups of four.
Motty’s is the perfect base for backwater houseboat holidays, culinary holidays, beach retreats, ayurvedic breaks, birdwatching trips and dental holidays. For more ideas and information see Unique Escapes.
